Teachers of the 21st Century

Peace be upon you.

It's been a long time since I've posted here. I've just been so busy lately with my study and also teaching practice at school in my previous semester. To be at school as a trainee teacher has give me a lot of precious experience. It makes me realize that teachers of the 21st century must be mentally strong, idealism and also always up-to-date with current issues.

The teaching profession today requires each teacher to develop competences in various aspects of learning, subject knowledge and the curriculum in education. From my three months teaching practice experience, I can conclude that most of the student easily get bored if teacher tends to use conventional teaching method. And the worst things, there is a few student choose to play and do their own work instead of paying attention in class. In order to make sure student will fully participate in learning, teacher need to build up fun and cheerful learning environment. You can choose interesting teaching aid material to attract their attention. And also, choose type of teaching strategy based on student needs, not based on what we used to.

Ladies and gentleman,
Education is becoming more challenging since our young generation mostly exposed to electrical gadget. Kids nowadays may know more about technology than us. This is why teacher need to be more advance in Information and Communication Technology, at the same time make sure students use this technology in a beneficial ways.

I'm kinda surprised when my nine-years-old student tell me about 'Momo Challenge' -  challenge that has gone viral in 2018. Me, to be honest don't even know what Momo Challenge is when they ask me for the first time. Then I make my own research searching in order to know what is it actually about. It is really disturbing to know that this challenge is a suicide game, and directed at children and teenager. This challenge has prompted international warnings, including from police departments in a few country such as Spain and got banned in Afghanistan!

So parents out there, it's important to talk with your kids about how to use social media wisely. We, as a teacher (to be) have no idea what your kids doing at home. It's important to be aware of what your kids do with their smart phone. Stay involved in a way that makes your kids understand that you respect their privacy but want to make sure they're safe.

Last but not least,
I would like to share what my lecturer told me after she observe my teaching skills last year. She said that, to be a good teacher, you need to be professional in every situation. Don't let your emotion conquer your act. Cause it will destroy you. So, be professional, not emotional. (Self reminder)

So guys, I think, that's all for today. Thanks for reading till the end. Btw, this is my first time write an entry fully in English, so please excuse any grammatical error 🙏🙏🙏...

Bye!
